Grant Description
The grants awarded by Research Security Administrators (RSA) are named for Bob Donovan and Ray Williams, founding members of RSA.

The scholastic grants are currently being awarded twice a year at the seminars organized by Research Security Administrators. Generally, one seminar is presented in the Northern California and one in the Southern California. Grants generally are between $500 and $1,000.
Purpose of Grants
RSA is interested in helping our current Security professionals attain their educational goals. RSA sponsored grants are non-repayable financial assistance to Security professionals, while they work and pursue post High School educational opportunities in the Security or other disciplines. Our ideal candidate is working in the Security field today and working to complete a Bachelors degree in a security related field. While the focus of our grant process is on the first undergraduate degree, consideration will also be given to those personnel pursuing related Certificate Programs, a second Bachelors' degree and first Master's degree. RSA will not award grants to professionals who already hold a Master's degree or higher.
Grant Use
The grant is awarded via check made out to the award recipient from RSA. The grant recipient may use the award in any manner that accomplishes their educational goals. The recipient will not be asked to prove use.
Eligibility Requirements
The following eligibility criteria must be met:
- Must not have previously received a grant from RSA.
- Full-time resident of the State of California.
- Average grade of "C" (GPA 2.00) on completed college work (waived if first semester)
- Satisfactory work Performance within a Security organization/ discipline/ process as defined by your company structure and confirmed by your manager (waived if unemployed but you can document your work performance within Security field) and
- Educational goal preferably of a Security related discipline. (This might include degrees in Computer Security, Information Security, Personnel Security, Physical Security, Business Continuity, Fire, Health and Safety, and Security Management.) Other professional degrees or programs are acceptable if they will assist your Security career. (These might include Business Administration, Finance, Liberal Arts, or field related to your place of employment ie a Security person working at a Chemical plant working on a Chemistry degree)
- Must be willing to let RSA announce the grant on our website, identify you, your place of employment, and your educational goals.
Application Process
Applicants should review the eligibility requirements above. Upon determining that you meet those requirements, please submit the following:
- a completed RSA Grant Application From (The Grant Application form may be downloaded from the Grant Application page of this web site)
- an unofficial copy of your last grade report (if attending your first semester please provide evidence of enrollment to the educational institution)
- a signed release allowing RSA to list your grant award

Grant Decisions
Decisions on grant awards are made by the members Board of Directors of the RSA as detailed on our website. All decisions are final and may not be appealed. Applicants who are not selected are encouraged to apply again as long as they are eligible.
